Currently serving as one of their premium offerings, the Don Julio 70 Anejo Claro Limited Edition 70th Anniversary Tequila was released to celebrate seven years of successful tequila production. Made exclusively from blue Weber agave, each batch of this tequila begins with the agave hearts being manually harvested before being slowly roasted in traditional ovens. After which, the cooked agaves are then crushed, extracting as much of their juices as possible to be fermented and distilled. The resulting spirit is aged for 18 months in used American white oak barrels. Following this lengthy maturation, the finished tequila is then put through a filtration process which removes any trace of impurities and color from the spirit, resulting in a unique expression dubbed the "claro" or clear tequila.
Each sip of this tequila conveys a sophisticated aroma of caramel popcorn, vanilla cream, cinnamon, morality, and green herbs, paving the way for a rich and delicate palate of cooked agave, ripe tropical fruits, honey, toasted nuts, more vanilla, and oak barrel char before wrapping up with a light and velvety finish of dark chocolate and bananas.
