Ichiro's Single Malt stands as an exclusive whisky, handcrafted by the talented artisans at Chichibu Distillery in the charming Saitama, Japan. What sets this spirit apart is its dedication to the finest ingredients and time-honored techniques.
This remarkable whisky begins with the use of 100% malted Concerto two-row barley. The barley is carefully milled and mashed in-house, and it undergoes fermentation in traditional Mizunara washbacks, an astonishing process that spans 90 to 100 hours.
The journey continues with distillation in meticulously crafted Forsyths copper pot stills, ensuring that tradition and precision are maintained at every step. However, what truly elevates Ichiro's Single Malt is its unique aging process. It matures in a blend of casks, including sherry hogsheads and ex-IPA, imperial stout, and hopped cider casks.
The 2022 Edition of the US bottling of Ichiro's Single Malt is a masterful blend of nine casks, with a particular emphasis on those previously holding India pale ale, imperial stout, and hopped cider. This intriguing aging method imparts subtle, delightful notes of tropical fruit and citrus, making it a genuinely exceptional whisky.
What's even more exciting is that it's bottled at cask strength, untouched by additives or coloring, resulting in a pure and unadulterated whisky. With a robust ABV of 53.5%, this non-chill filtered gem is produced in a limited quantity, with just 2,233 bottles available.
