Bourbon has proven itself as a stand out contender of the spirits over the past few years with its resurgence and extreme popularity. We have watched the revival of pre-prohibition cocktails as well as the creations of a savvy new generation of mixologists. Whatever the cocktail, bourbon may be at its heart.
While Congress might disappoint us today, we were delighted and proud in 2007 when our legislators decreed September to be National Bourbon Heritage Month. Here is some great bourbon that may not be on your radar to celebrate this special month.

Corsair Triple Smoke Bourbon Whiskey
Oh my lord, this stuff. "Sophisticated" is an understatement. Barley malted and smoked with not one but three (hence the name, duh) fuel sources; cherry, peat and beechwood. Your average whisky might take on a signature earthiness and woody characteristics, but Triple Smoke dials these qualities up at least five notches. So technically this makes it something other than a whiskey, not a scotch, just incredibly complex booze deserving of praise. It's a wonderful example of a very advanced whisky that demands a bit of time to savor.

Probably the most unique and beautiful bourbon bottle we have seen. Bottled in an elegant glass pot still decanter, Willet Reserve is soft and elegant on the nose and palate, and very well balanced. Each bottle is sealed with a label identifying the individual aging barrel, the number of the bottle within the series of bottles for that barrel, and the total number of bottles from the barrel.
